About
FC Portland Soccer Academy is one of Oregon’s longest-established competitive youth soccer organizations. The club was founded in 1987 by legendary Portland coach and former professional player Clive Charles, who created the academy to bring high-level players together in a quality training environment. FC Portland began its competitive team program in 1993 and quickly established itself on the national stage, winning the 1994 USYSA U18 Boys National Championship and the 2003 US Club Soccer U17 Girls National Championship. Charles built the club around the philosophy that soccer should develop young people for challenges both on and off the field, a philosophy that remains central to FC Portland today.
