Alejandro Zendejas in the 19th minute was carted off of Club America’s 2-2 draw with Santos Laguna this past Saturday with a hamstring injury that will set him back 3-4 weeks. The Mexican/American midfielder suffered a torn hamstring and is expected to miss all of February’s fixtures.
This injury comes at an unfortunate time as the season is just getting started and Zendejas has been playing a starting position role for Club America from the start. Although Club America started off with only 1 win and 4 ties in 5 games, the team is showing they can make an impact by still scoring an impressive 12 goals in those 5 games.
In all, Zendejas has made 42 appearances for Club America, during which time he has scored 13 goals and added three assists. It is likely that Brian Rodriguez is set to replace Zendejas during his absence.
