Nestor Araujo Club America Transfer

After weeks of rumors and speculation, Club America has officially finalized the signing of Mexican centre-back, Nestor Araujo from La Liga side Celta Vigo for the upcoming 2022 Apertura season.

Araujo joins Las Aguilas after a four-year stint in Spain where he made a total of 136 appearances across all competitions, while also tallying a total of four goals for Los Celestes.

With Arajuo being added to this Club America squad, it bolsters the team as a serious contender whilst also adding a striker like Jonathan Rodriguez to the team. Prior to playing in Europe, Araujo had stints with Cruz Azul where he began his professional career, and more notably with Santos Laguna where he won two league titles in 2015 and 2018.

The move has been met with mixed reviews by various Mexican sport analysts and personalities believing that Araujo returning to Mexico is a step back in his career, especially in a World Cup year. Believing that he should have stayed in Europe with Celta Vigo or go elsewhere and fight for a spot to arrive to the World Cup in stellar form.
