The iranian-American billionaire Jahm Najafi has expressed interest in purchasing Tottenham Hotspur. According to the Financial Times, Jahm Najafi, the Chair of MSP Sports Capital and most recently a minority owner and vice chairman of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, is preparing a consortium bid of approximately £3.1 billion to purchase the club. Najafi was a member of the Suns’ ownership group and served in those capacities most recently.
Since the building of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Tottenham has positioned itself as a very attractive asset that may be sold, and there have been several rumors that Joe Lewis and ENIC would be open to conversations regarding a prospective sale of the club. In this regard, throughout the course of the previous several years there have been rumblings that a number of different people and groups have shown an interest in owning Tottenham.
There has never been a time when any of them came even close to materializing, and there are indications that this proposition is likewise unlikely to materialize. Spurs have denied that there has been any approach at all from Najafi for a prospective bid, and they have said that they have no knowledge of such an attempt.
According to sources, even if he has not yet presented an official offer, one is anticipated to arrive within the next several weeks.
