German-based FC Union Berlin has officially signed American international Jordan Pefok from BSC Young Boys. The 26-year-old US international is now making the move from Switzerland as a direct replacement for Union Berlin’s recent selling.
“After two successful years in Bern, where I had the perfect environment as a young player to develop myself, the next step in my career is now ahead of me. I want to prove myself in the Bundesliga and I’m convinced that I’ve found the right club in Union. Their style of play suits me very well and I’m happy to go hunting for goals for the Irons in the unbelievable atmosphere at the Alte Försterei.”
Jordan Pefok played 32 games with BSC Young Boys in the last season, while scoring an impressive 22 goals.
Pefok, who joined Stade de Reims at the age of 7, is a product of the youth academy. Pefok scored his first Ligue 1 goal against Girondins de Bordeaux on August 9, 2015, in just his second appearance. He committed to a three-year contract with Reims when he signed his first professional contract in September 2015.
Pefok and Ligue 1 team Rennes agreed to a contract on June 12th, 2018. He made his debut in Europe on September 20 for Rennes in the group stage of the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League. He scored his first goal in Europe on November 8 against Dynamo Kyiv. On December 22, he scored two goals and added an assist against Nîmes Olympique to help his team win 4-0, earning his first Ligue 1 double.
