Marco Zambrano-Delgado Benfica Transfer From Philadelphia Union

The 18-year-old Philadelphia Union Academy player Marco Zambrano-Delgado has officially signed a contract in Europe with Portuguese side Benfica. Marcos Zambrano was born in Ecuador but has dual citizenship making him eligible for the US Men’s soccer team.

He started his youth career playing for Ecuador’s youth national team until recently being called up with the U.S. youth national team and has been playing with them since. The Philadelphia Union Academy striker has also played in the first-ever MLS Next All-Star game, scoring a late winning goal giving his team the title.

Sources have said that Marco Zambrano was offered a professional contract by the Philadelphia Union but it was rejected after his father preferred the young striker to seek opportunities abroad.
