Toni Kroos will now complete a decade at Real Madrid once he fulfills his new contract at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Kroos had the opportunity to extend his contract until 2024 last summer but has since delayed negotiations to assess his mental and physical levels.
As MARCA reported at the time, Kroos was contemplating just two options. He would either extend his contract or announce his retirement from football.
The German midfielder arrived at the Spanish capital after winning the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and featured in 405 official games for Los Blancos.
Toni Kroos has won everything with Real Madrid except for the Copa del Rey trophy. He will have the chance to lift it if his team beat Osasuna in the final on May 6.
Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti was asked about Kroos’ renewal and said: “He is a legend. He is at a good level physically and mentally. As he already said, he would like to finish his career at Madrid.”
