Niger Tornadoes History
Although they finished in the bottom half of the Nigerian Premier League in 2005, they were saved from relegation by a three-point margin. The club has been having financial problems, and the players have been complaining about not being paid their salaries and bonuses.
The entire administration was fired after the team started the 2008–2009 season with a record of 0–3. David Suleiman, who took over as chairman, and Danladi Nasidi, who took over as manager, both held the same posts at the club in the 2004–2005 season, when the club finished 13th and 14th, respectively, in the Premier League.
The team decided to employ Justin Tenger on November 15 to fill the job of technical adviser, which he held until 2004. After scoring 38 goals in a total of 36 games during the 2012 season, they were demoted from the Premier League due to their goal difference. Sibi Gwar, who finished as the leading scorer in the league, was responsible for thirteen of the team’s total goals.
They won the Nigeria National League in 2015, which allowed them to advance to the next level. 2015 marked the year when the Niger Tornadoes earned their return to the premier division. After defeating Mighty Jets F.C. by a score of 2-0, they secured the promotion slot that Coach Abdullahi Biffo had guided them to achieve. After falling to Akwa United on penalties in the championship game of the Nigerian FA Cup in 2017, Niger Tornadoes finished in second place.
Niger Tornadoes Stadium
In the city of Minna, Nigeria, you’ll find the multi-purpose Minna Township Stadium. At the moment, football events take up the majority of its usage, and the Niger Tornadoes call it their home stadium. The stadium can hold anywhere from 5,000 to 7,000 people at one time.
The expansion of the stadium to a capacity of 30,000 spectators is now in the planning phases at Niger State. However, it seems as though the stadium is located smack dab in the midst of Minna Town, with no room for expansion. On each of the stadium’s four sides, residences had already been cut out.
