ABOUT BLESSING
YEAR OF BIRTH: 1996
Latif Blessing joined the Liberty Professionals young squad in Accra in the year 2013. He was quickly elevated to the senior club for the Ghana Premier League, however, he spent the majority of his time on the bench. On June 21, 2015, Blessing played a match in the Premier League against Asante Kotoko. His performance earned him particularly positive feedback from the commentators. In that game, he scored the goal that equalized the score in the 21st minute. He then went on to provide two assists, which helped Liberty Professionals to a 3โ1 triumph.
During the 2016 campaign, Blessing started off the year well by scoring six goals in his first eight contests.
Blessing would go on to complete the season as the highest scorer in the league with 17 goals as he finished the season by scoring a hat trick on the final day of the season against Bechem United.
As a result of his outstanding play during the campaign, the Ghana Football Association deemed Blessing to be the best player in the league in December of 2016, and he was awarded the trophy.
Blessing signed a contract to play for the Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City in January of 2017. On March 11, 2017, he made his first appearance in Major League Soccer (MLS) while playing for FC Dallas. On March 24, 2017, Blessing was loaned out to Swope Park Rangers, and he scored a goal in the match that Swope Park Rangers played against OKC Energy FC. Blessing scored his first two Major League Soccer goals on May 13, 2017, in a match against Orlando City that ended in a 2โ2 tie in Orlando.
Blessing was the player chosen by Los Angeles FC with the second overall pick in the Major League Soccer Expansion Draft that took place in December of 2017. In the team’s inaugural Major League Soccer match, which they won 1-0 against Seattle Sounders, he made his debut for the club as a starter.
