CE Carroi History
CE Carroi was established in 2014 as a football academy[1,] and has since established itself as a successful club at the national youth level. Additionally, the club has participated in internationally renowned youth competitions in Europe, such as the Mediterranean International Cup or the Andorra International Cup.
Although the club is most known for its football academy and school, CE Carroi established a senior squad in July 2015 with the intention of competing at the highest levels possible in the country. As a result, the club was accepted into the Segona Divisió.
After finishing the 2015-16 season in Segona Divisió in second place, CE Carroi was scheduled to fight in a relegation play-off against FC Encamp, the club that finished seventh in the Premier Division. The play-off would consist of two legs.
[4] It was declared that Encamp had been given the tie against CE Carroi 3-0 owing to unlawful lineup during the first leg of the relegation play-offs; hence, Encamp stayed in the top division while Carroi remained in the second tier for one more season.
[5] After defeating FC Lusitanos in the relegation play-offs for the Primera División, the club was able to earn promotion at the end of the 2018–19 Segona Divisió season. This allowed the team to advance to the next level.
CE Carroi Stadium
The Camp d’Esports d’Aixovall was a football stadium that was located in Aixovall, in the parish of Sant Julià de Lria, close to the capital city of Andorra la Vella in Andorra. The stadium was formally known as the DEVK-Arena due to a sponsorship agreement. The stadium featured seating for a maximum of one thousand spectators who were all seated. Together, the Camp d’Esports d’Aixovall and the Estadi Comunal d’Andorra la Vella hosted all of the games for Andorra’s two top football leagues, the Lliga de Primera Divisió and the Lliga de Segona Divisió. Both of these stadiums are located in the capital city of Andorra.
