Penya Encarnada d’Andorra History

Associació Club Penya Encarnada d’Andorra, more commonly known as FC Penya d’Andorra, was established in 2009 as a cultural association for the promotion of football and sport in the parish of Andorra la Vella in defense of the name and honor of the House of Benfica. The team was for the first time promoted to Primera Divisió after finishing first in the 2014–15 season of Segona Divisió.

Despite the fact that the club was demoted to Segona Divisió the season after that, they still played against FC Ordino in a relegation play-off that consisted of two legs for one position in the 2017–18 Primera Divisió. The final score was 5–3 for Penya Encarnada, which meant that they were promoted to the Primera Divisió. Following their relegation in 2018, the club returned to the Primera Divisió in the year 2020.

The matches of the Primera Divisió and Segona Divisió are organized by the Andorran Football Federation and played at the venues that are controlled by the Andorran Football Federation. In addition, the federation is responsible for allocating the stadiums and playing fields that will be used for the training sessions of each team.

Since the 2016–17 season, FC Encamp has been the only team in Encamp to have its very own stadium, which is known as Camp de Futbol d’Encamp and is located in Prada de Moles. Former matches from the Primera Divisió and Segona Divisió were played at the Camp d’Esports d’Aixovall up to the year 2016.
