BACK TO ENGLAND CLUBS

Hi, I’m Carlos! A coach, sports enthusiast, and the founder of FCScout.com.

I fell in love with the game at a very young age like many of you. I’ve been following and playing soccer for many years.

Throughout my career, I always enjoyed helping soccer players chase their dreams, which is why I started this website. I wanted to reach a larger audience outside of my local area and fcscout.com was born.

This website is a platform I will be using to update club pages on any tryouts, stadiums, players, tech, and more from clubs around the world. I also create free recruitment profiles for players looking to have that extra competitive edge when reaching out to clubs.

That’s it. That’s my pitch for you to stick around (or browse the site as you please).

This is already too much text for a “see more” drop-down button thing. If you want to reach out to me, head on over to my contact page 🙂

Exeter City FC is an English professional football club based in Exeter, Devon, England. The club competes in the EFL League One, the third tier of English football.

Exeter City FC Youth Development System

Exeter City Academy, based at the club’s Cliff Hill training ground, has a growing reputation for not only producing talented footballers but more importantly, well-rounded young men.

The Academy’s ethos is to look after the best interests of every young player in their care and to strive to have as many of their young players as possible become professional football players.

Exeter City FC places a young man’s personal development above his football development and demand that their young players perform well at school, behave properly at all times and learn respect to ensure they can maximise their potential, on and off the pitch.

Scholars in their under-18 team compete in the Youth Alliance League and the FA Youth Cup. their under-16s play in an EFL competitive league programme, along with friendlies which mirror the under-18s fixture list.

Exeter City FC under-9s up to the under-14s combine regular training with a games programme against other clubs.

Exeter City FC Structure

At the Exeter City Academy there have three-tiers of Player Progression Pathway, which allows players to develop at their own speed and progress to the next level if and when they are ready.

Initially, players will begin at one of their Advanced Development Centres (ADCs) located around the South West of England. ADCs are devised for talented young football players from the age of 6 to 14. The ADC’s are located in Dorset (Sherborne), East Devon (Axminster), Exeter & Mid Devon (Cranbrook), North Devon (Barnstaple), Somerset (Bridgewater), South Devon (Totnes/Paignton).

Players that consistently display the ECFC Must Haves and good ability will earn the opportunity to progress up the pathway pyramid to their Performance Centre (PC) when the coaches and academy recruitment department have reviewed player performances and they feel are at the level required to step up to the next pathway.

The Performance Centre is situated in Exeter and is essentially the link between the ADC and full Academy.

Training at the ADCs and the Performance Centre takes place once a week, as we encourage players to also continue training and playing matches with their grassroots club.

Academy scouts regularly visit these centres to assess player levels in addition to communicating with ADC & Performance centre coaches on player progression.

The top tier of the player progression pathway is the Academy itself. Players within the Academy train and play exclusively for Exeter City (School/District football is also encouraged) with the aim of becoming well-rounded young men and, hopefully, Exeter City First Team players.

George Friend was the first player to develop through the club’s player progression pathway, attending the Barnstaple ADC before progressing all the way through to the first team.

George was then sold to Wolverhampton Wanderers, making his debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford, before going on to captain Middlesbrough in the Premier League.

In the forms link below are choices of ADC’s. Once the application is received for centre preference, in the next round of trials an invitation will be sent with a date to commence for a free 2 week trial period. In this period it will be used to assess the player’s current level as there is potential for the player to be moved up the pathway swiftly.  We encourage the players to enjoy their football with us at Exeter City FC and look forward to you becoming part of their team.

Supporting all of this is the great work of the City Community Trust which runs many provisions for young players including After School Clubs and Holiday Clubs. These programmes are another great way for the Academy to identify players. Links to these programmes can be found here: CCT Holiday Clubs

their 6 Regional Advanced Development Centres are the entry level for their Player Progression Pathway, serving as a feeder into their Performance Centre and beyond…
