Unión de Santa Fe History

Leopoldo Luque, who won the World Cup with Argentina in 1978, and Nery Pumpido, who was the goalie for the national squad that won the World Cup in Mexico in 1986, are two of the most well-known footballers who have ever played for Unión. Santa Fe is home to two of the most successful football clubs in the country: Unión and Colón. One of the toughest and most important rivalries in football in Argentina is called the Clásico Santafesino. This match is held annually. Both in the Amateur Era and the Professional Era, Unión and Colón have competed against one another a total of 142 times, with Unión claiming 47 victories, Colón claiming 43 victories, and 47 games ending in a draw.
