Pelada Football Academy is a nonprofit youth soccer organization founded in 2013 and serving Eugene and Springfield. Founded and directed by longtime Oregon coach Joey Garah, the academy was created around the idea that competitive development and inclusive participation do not have to be mutually exclusive. Its name comes from the Brazilian term “pelada,” describing informal soccer played for the love of the game. PFA combines structured technical and tactical development with an environment where players are not cut based solely on ability and each player receives meaningful match participation.
