Thank you for being here!
Hi, I’m Carlos! A coach, sports enthusiast, and the founder of FCScout.com.
I fell in love with the game at a very young age like many of you. I’ve been following and playing soccer for many years.
Throughout my career, I always enjoyed helping soccer players chase their dreams, which is why I started this website. I wanted to reach a larger audience outside of my local area and fcscout.com was born.
This website is a platform I will be using to update club pages on any tryouts, stadiums, players, tech, and more from clubs around the world. I also create free recruitment profiles for players looking to have that extra competitive edge when reaching out to clubs.
That’s it. That’s my pitch for you to stick around (or browse the site as you please).
This is already too much text for a “see more” drop-down button thing. If you want to reach out to me, head on over to my contact page 🙂
Fußball-Club Augsburg 1907 e. V., commonly known as FC Augsburg or Augsburg, is a German football club based in Augsburg, Bavaria. The club competes in the Bundesliga, the top flight of German football.
FC Augsburg Youth Development System
FC Augsburg Academy
Since it was recognized as a center of excellence in 2007, the promotion of young talent at FC Augsburg has undergone significant professionalization in terms of structure and process organization in recent years. The youth performance center (NLZ) of FC Augsburg will in future be developed into a supporting pillar of the club.
According to the official definition, the youth management center includes the teams from the development, performance and transition areas. They are subject to the special regulations of the DFB and DFL. Compliance with these requirements is checked as an elementary component in the course of the DFL licensing process. The teams in the basic area are therefore managed outside of the junior performance structure.
Basic task
The tasks and goals of the work in the youth training center relate primarily to three areas:
- Training of players for the licensing team
- Perception of a regionally oriented, social responsibility when working with young people
- Positive image transfer
The FC Augsburg training association
The FCA sees itself as a training association and places long-term training clearly before short-term success. Outstanding talents from the greater Augsburg area are introduced to professional football at FC Augsburg through a close network of schools and competitive sports. In order to provide the players with a quantitatively and qualitatively optimized training, school training (as part of our school cooperation), additional technical / tactical training and special or athletic training are offered as supplementary training units. Here, strengths are specifically expanded and weaknesses reduced.
Dual education
But the school and professional training of the FCA youngsters is also an integral part of the concept. For example, since 2007, partner schools of the FCA have been offering coordinated timetables and in this way guarantee that competitive sports and schooling run smoothly. In addition, the pedagogical department enables all FCA squad players to receive follow-up lessons for lessons that have been lost, private lessons and homework supervision. The “all-day sports classes” launched in 2013 at our cooperation schools and “elite football schools”, which have been certified since 2015, are seen as the ideal solution for school education .
The FCA also systematically accompanies its kickers on their way into professional life and is at their side with advice and action, for example through information events or the placement of internships and apprenticeships through extensive contacts to numerous companies in the Augsburg area. FC Augsburg has a holistic and strategically long-term development concept that enables talented young players a direct path to professional football and ensures personal development as well as school and professional training.
Regional orientation
The implementation of the youth concept creates permanent identification potential, both on the fan side and on the part of the athletes. Through the cooperation with a total of seven partner associations based in the Augsburg area, on the one hand, the regional roots are additionally strengthened. On the other hand, in this way the association secures young talent from the region in the long term.
Clubs in our region that play football as a popular sport also benefit from our training, as they can integrate well-trained players who have not made the leap into competitive football into their teams. We see it as our duty to help these players even if they no longer play a role in FC Augsburg’s plans. At least once a year, we survey the partner clubs using an online survey system in order to further improve cooperation with these clubs.
New building NLZ
How much the FCA is willing to become a nationally recognized talent factory again is made clear by the major investment in the new construction of a modern functional building for the young talent center. In the long term, this will be able to meet the steadily growing requirements in both the sporting and organizational areas and provide the young talent area with the necessary infrastructure to achieve the ambitious goals.
In the funding concept, great attention is paid to regional talent. But the club also enables young players who have found their way to the FCA nationally or even from abroad to complete their football training at the FCA and quickly settle in on site by providing accommodation with appropriate support (as a proprietary boarding school solution).
Concept
With all teams in the transition (U23) and performance area (U19 – U16) the highest possible league is to be aimed for in order to apply and develop the skills learned individually and position-specifically in the competition at a high level. It is not primarily about results and placements, but about introducing the individual players to higher tasks, loads and training volumes. In the close cooperation with the licensed players area, the main focus is on the specialization of the footballers as well as the development of assertiveness, robustness and critical ability.
The advanced area (U15–U12) is primarily used to learn and consolidate technical skills, tactics training by getting to know different running paths and the gradual increase in endurance, fitness and speed values in order to prepare for the transition to the large field in those age groups. The increase in training intensity goes hand in hand with the coordination of school duties and the training of character traits that are indispensable for acceptance into the performance area and the later development of a professional footballer.
For the youngest FCA players in the basic area (U11 – U10), the focus is on having fun and enthusiasm for football as well as enjoying movement, games and team sports. Dexterity, flexibility and basic techniques are developed in a child-friendly way. Discipline, integration into a group and the ability to solve one-on-one situations with the appropriate courage to dribble are consciously challenged and encouraged.
It is a long way from early childhood to the elite and goes hand in hand with progressive performance development. The demanding requirements of football are broken down into smaller sub-goals and built on each other depending on the age and level of development, so that systematic and optimal support is guaranteed.
In addition to focusing on regional talents, the “FCA macht Schule” project launched by the NLZ intends to open up potentials and opportunities in the region. The Bayern / Swabia youth development project aims to create early contact with talented children and young people in order to motivate them to participate in sport and to lead them to football.
A long-term model project for finding, searching for and promoting talent for the Augsburg region was designed and implemented:
- Talents must be identified early on and trained within the framework of development-oriented funding
- Talent promotion always relates to the entire personality, which is why athletic performance should not be the only criterion in talent selection and promotion
- Talent promotion must not only focus on those who attract attention early on with their special talent and performance, but must also include those who are interested in the sport or whose interest can be mobilized in the long term.
The aim is by no means to compete with organized club training. Rather, the purpose is to create numerous collaborations with the regional associations. Through the networking, the existing know-how of the competent partners should enable the holistic support of the children.
FC Augsburg Principles
The basic idea is based on the guiding principle of elite support. Long-term training takes precedence over short-term success. Careful coaching in the performance area ensures a high quantitative and qualitative development opportunity for the players. Supplementary training units and the highest training quality are the basis for the development of a high quality player and a homogeneous squad. The targeted low fluctuation in the teams underlines the individual and personality-related character of this project and is the basis for a career in the licensing area.
Focus:
1. Seriousness and joy in playing football
2. Individual technique training: Stabilization of all basic techniques at the highest speed / under pressure
3. Individual preparation of perspective players for special requirements
4. Systematic performance development of the talents on the basis of intensive performance diagnostics
5. Individual construction of a stable, specific one Fitness as the basis of modern tempo football – individualized athletic programs
6. Formation of strong, compact and successful teams based on a perspective-oriented approach to the game
Principles:
1. Our perspective players should be systematically prepared for the expected top performances and extreme stresses of licensed football!
2. Our talents will be optimally promoted in an optimal competitive sport environment and by highly qualified trainers!
3. Commitment and goal orientation for top performance in and outside of football are encouraged!
4. In spite of all seriousness and all intermittent lows, the “love of football” must always be the basis for stable top performances!
5. The loads are controlled individually! Game and training phases in coordination with the club, association and school are coordinated and dosed in a targeted manner!
FC Augsburg Elite school of football
The project of the elite football school is based on the cornerstones of school, sport and personal development for young football talents. Through holistic training, talents can become competitive athletes and, at best, be introduced to a professional career. The elite school of football offers support tailored to the athletes. This creates an optimal connection between school education at the elite schools ( Anna-Pröll-Mittelschule Gersthofen , Heinrich-von-Buz Realschule Augsburg and Paul-Klee-Gymnasium Gersthofen ) and athletic training (by FC Augsburg).
Registration for the sightings of the elite school in 2021

Housing opportunities
Central local accommodation in residential groups
By providing accommodation (single apartments, 2-person shared apartments, 3-person shared apartments), FC Augsburg enables top talents and foreign players from home and abroad to join the licensed team in football.
This option is generally aimed at players between the ages of 14 and 19 (U15-U19) who are too far away from Augsburg to travel to training every day. For younger players, the FCA offers opportunities through support from host families. The young talents receive from experienced and qualified supervisors all the help that young people in this age group need to survive the separation from their families unscathed and thus receive optimal support in their personal and sporting development in this difficult phase of their life.
This includes that in residential units rented by the FCA NLZ, the players are permanently looked after and accompanied in everyday life. Accommodation is close to the training grounds and the cooperation partner schools. This creates freedom for educational support, which has a strong presence thanks to on-site premises and constant support and can deal with all non-sporting topics of the young players on an event-related and individual basis.
Lunch for the junior players takes place in the rooms of the junior performance center.
Pedagogical and psychological support in school age is guaranteed by the cooperation partner schools and the FCA by the experienced teachers working there.

FC Augsburg History
The majority of the club’s history has been spent moving back and forth between the second and third divisions. The most disappointing moment in the club’s history occurred in the early 2000s when Augsburg was demoted to the fourth division for two seasons.
The club, despite this setback, went on to have a surge that eventually led to it being promoted to the Bundesliga for the very first time in 2011, where it has remained ever since it was originally promoted. Augsburg have maintained their status in the Bundesliga throughout the 2010s, finishing a record high fifth in the 2014–15 season before several mid-table finishes. The club made their debut in Europe during the 2015–16 UEFA Europa League season, reaching the Round of 32 before being eliminated by Liverpool 1-0 on aggregate.
Augsburg’s local rivalries with Ingolstadt and TSV 1860 Munich are among the most heated in the region. The games that these clubs play against one another frequently draw enormous crowds, and one of those games, played in 1973 at 1860 Munich, set the all-time record for spectators in the Olympic Stadium. The FCA and Bayern Munich matchup is a popular local rivalry in Bavaria and frequently sells out.
The club’s uniforms feature the colors red, green, and white, which also serve as the club’s official colors. The club insignia is modeled off the emblem used to represent the city of Augsburg. The club’s training facilities are located right next to the stadium, while the club shop can be found in the middle of Augsburg, close to Hauptbahnhof.
Stadium
The WWK ARENA, which has a capacity of 30,660 and is located south of the city center of Augsburg and is easily accessible via tram, has served as the home stadium of FC Augsburg since 2009. In the 2019–20 Bundesliga season, the club, sometimes known as the Fuggerstadter or simply as FCA, had an impressive home support with an average attendance of 28,709 fans (93.6 percent of stadium capacity).
The stadium is a single tier with a standing terrace behind one of the goals known as the Ulrich-Biesinger-Tribüne and three seated stands with a standing section in the opposite corner to the Ulrich-Biesinger-Tribüne for away fans. The Ulrich-Biesinger-Tribüne is known as the Ulrich-Biesinger-Tribüne.
