Thank you for being here!
Hi, I’m Carlos! A coach, sports enthusiast, and the founder of FCScout.com.
I fell in love with the game at a very young age like many of you. I’ve been following and playing soccer for many years.
Throughout my career, I always enjoyed helping soccer players chase their dreams, which is why I started this website. I wanted to reach a larger audience outside of my local area and fcscout.com was born.
This website is a platform I will be using to update club pages on any tryouts, stadiums, players, tech, and more from clubs around the world. I also create free recruitment profiles for players looking to have that extra competitive edge when reaching out to clubs.
That’s it. That’s my pitch for you to stick around (or browse the site as you please).
This is already too much text for a “see more” drop-down button thing. If you want to reach out to me, head on over to my contact page 🙂
SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden, also known as SC Cambuur, or simply Cambuur, is a Dutch football club from the city of Leeuwarden formed on 19 June 1964. They currently play in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football.
SC Cambuur Youth Development System
SC Cambuur wants to offer talented players from their own region the opportunity to be trained to become a professional football player. SC Cambuur strives to build a youth academy where all the conditions for a top sports climate are present and where work is done in a top sports culture.
Mission Youth education
To offer the most optimal learning environment in which young football talents achieve maximum self-development, in order to maximize the chance of becoming a professional football player.
Vision on training
SC Cambuur offers talented players from their own region the opportunity to be trained in a way that is recognizable to SC Cambuur in a top sports climate in which a top sports culture prevails.
We do our scouting very carefully, scouting in our own region. SC Cambuur believes it is important that talent from their own region is given the opportunity to reach professional football.
Personal development and top sporting behavior
In addition to football development, the personal development of the child is the common thread running through our training. This is where children develop their self-image and self-confidence. The following topics are central to our training:
- Self image
- Assertiveness
- Self confidence
- Self-regulating ability
- Discipline and investing
Physical development
We believe it is important to train children to become better movers. Being fast, explosive and agile is very important in our training and in professional football. That is why, in addition to football development, we invest in versatile movement and athletic ability in the lower years. In the upper years we expand this physical program with more specific strength training.
Playing football in our training
The SC Cambuur teams play their matches based on our principles. These principles are universal and apply in any football situation, regardless of formation, tactics or opponent. We believe it is important that players learn to make their own choices within the principles (the framework).
In practice, this means that adaptability and spatial orientation (awareness) are important. In training situations, we have the players often call on these abilities. We do this by repeating the same principles in all kinds of situations. The context changes and therefore varies constantly, but the same principle keeps coming back. As a result, players learn to ‘perform’ under all circumstances, to orient themselves better and to act accordingly. Making players automatically act on the principles in the future, regardless of the situation.
SC Cambuur and education
We think it is important that every player in our youth academy obtains a basic qualification in the field of education. In order to properly combine education and top sport, we have linked two educational partners to the youth academy. In this way, the training schedule and the school program can be coordinated as well as possible. For secondary education there is a collaboration with OSG Piter Jelles and for MBO with Friesland College. OSG Piter Jelles offers all levels of education in Leeuwarden, from practical education to Gymnasium, with seven locations to choose from. There is also a choice of different types of education. Mission and vision
We believe that all players we invite to the Football School should have a real chance of passing the training. That is why we work with small groups in our football school. Playing at SC Cambuur therefore means getting a lot of attention!
In the Football School, players are given a long time to get used to their preparation for top sport. For the football school players we have one selection moment during the season. The second moment is at the end of the season. In this way the ‘pressure’ on young children is as low as possible and each child also gets time to develop. We do our scouting very carefully, scouting in our own region. 96% of all our youth players (U12-O21) come from our region.
SC Cambuur consciously opts for a football school up to and including the U11 year, instead of putting together “teams”. In this way players can play longer in their familiar environment, at their own amateur club. In addition, the predictability of talent at a young age is difficult to determine. That is why SC Cambuur has chosen not to put together teams in these age groups and only invites the talents to the Football School who are far ahead of their peers in terms of movement and pace of decision-making. Selection is made at a later age, which is also an important reason that we started the O9 project .
For this age group, versatile exercise, playing football with friends and playing other sports is extremely important for developing athletic ability. It is precisely this athletic ability and versatile physical development that is of great importance as a football player at a later age. By not putting together teams up to and including U11 and having players from the region (at a young age) travel to Leeuwarden several times a week, the child has the opportunity to develop ‘broad’ for longer. Through the Football School (and Masterclass) trajectory we also have the opportunity to offer every talent his challenge in the field of football.
Playing football at our Football School
During the Football School training sessions, we want players to play football (meaningly) as much as possible. At Football School SC Cambuur you play with and against a selection of the best players from our region. This allows us to offer a challenging and instructive learning environment in which players and trainers can develop optimally.
We believe it is important to train children to become better movers. Being fast, explosive and agile is very important in our training and in professional football. In addition, training the technique in this age group is extremely interesting. By offering implicit learning methods, we improve the technique of the players in different forms of play.
Players train their adaptability and their spatial orientation skills at a later age at SC Cambuur. We do this by offering different contexts that require players to constantly adapt. For example by changing rules, spaces, surfaces or balls. As a result, players learn to ‘perform’ under all circumstances, to orient themselves better and to act accordingly, which is important for talented football players.
In addition to football development, the personal development of the child runs as a common thread through our training. This is where children develop their self-image and self-confidence. We let the children come into contact with this in the Football School.
Players must be given the freedom to dare and learn and are given the space to discover for themselves. In the course of their Football School trajectory, however, they will also become acquainted with reflecting and training it for yourself, in order to ultimately get the very best out of yourself. Independent practice before the training is something that is very normal in the training. In the Football School we teach players this by working from a controlled situation to self-management in a number of steps. The end result is that every player trains before training on something he wants to improve himself. The trainers are available for training to help and/or guide the players.
Where players develop, so do trainers. At the football school, trainers and trainees work on their development every week and are also often active in an amateur association in the region. In this way SC Cambuur contributes to training trainers who can share their expertise with the region. Trainers at the Football School receive a lot of feedback, in which reflection is an essential part every week.
SC Camburr Football Amateur Partners
SC Cambuur is a real people’s club. A club that wants to be at the heart of society and takes its role as a professional football organization very seriously. To give shape to this and to strengthen football in the region, SC Cambuur has entered into a partnership with several amateur associations from the region. Within this amateur covenant there is cooperation in the commercial, technical and organizational fields .
Mission & vision
Amateur football in the region plays a major role in SC Cambuur’s raison d’être as a BVO. For example, it is not only the most important source for the youth academy, a large part of the supporters is also active in amateur football. In recent years there have been several youth players who have completed our youth academy from amateur football and are now active in professional football. Some examples of this are Lucas Bijker, Bob Schepers and Mark Diemers.
In order to ensure that such talents from northern amateur football enter the youth academy (and professional football) in the future, we are aware that good contact with the amateur associations in the north of the Netherlands is essential. With the Amateur Covenant we give substance to this contact through involvement, knowledge sharing and the “Cambuur experience”.

SC Cambuur History
Cambuur is a Dutch football club that was established in 1964 and has participated in the Eredivisie for a total of seven seasons. The team was a consistent threat to advance to the playoffs of the Eerste Divisie throughout the decades of the 1980s and 1990s. Cambuur was relegated from the Eredivisie in 1994 after having won the Eerste Divisie in 1992 and earning promotion to the higher division at the end of that season.
The team was once again elevated to the Eredivisie in 1998, however after only two seasons competing at the highest level, they were demoted to the second division in 2000. Following these difficult times, the “folk club” came dangerously near to going out of business in the year 2005. 2006 marked the beginning of the rebuilding process, and as of 2010, the club has been in a financially solid position for the most part.
In 2009, the club came close to winning the playoff against Roda JC, a team from the Eredivisie, but ultimately fell short on penalties. In 2010, the club finished in second place, once again coming up a few spots short of promotion. During these play-offs, Cambuur received more than 40,000 fans over the course of just two weeks. A huge screen was set up in the middle of the city of Leeuwarden so that spectators could see the final play-off match against Roda.
It is estimated that approximately 7,000 fans watched the contest. Another record for a play-off promotion match in the Netherlands was reportedly broken when more than 1.4 million fans watched the final play-off encounter on television. More than 4.5 million people tuned in to see the play-off matches that year between Cambuur, PEC Zwolle, and Roda JC on television.
After Cambuur’s dominating performance in the Eerste Divisie during the 2012–13 season, the club was granted promotion to the Eredivisie for the following year’s 2013–14 campaign. After suffering a loss on the road to PSV by a score of 6–2, Cambuur were demoted to the Eerste Divisie on May 1, 2016. Despite Cambuur finishing in first place in the 2019–20 Eerste Divisie, they were not promoted to the 2020–21 Eredivisie because of the epidemic.
SC Cambuur Stadium
A football stadium known as the Cambuurstadion may be found on the eastern side of the city of Leeuwarden in the Netherlands. It is where SC Cambuur plays their games when they are at home.
The stadium first opened its doors on September 12, 1936, and it has the capacity to host 10,500 people. The club has submitted designs for a new stadium located on the western side of the city, and the estimated cost is 35 million Euros.
